Jonathan is the Sustainability Manager for The Tower Companies—an award winning, nationally recognized sustainable real estate developer, owner, and manager based in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
Jonathan, an outdoors enthusiast, is so passionate about climate change that he decided to build a career combatting it. After researching in a lab and interning for both the Connecticut and White House Councils on Environmental Quality, he moved into the real estate sector with the Institute for Market Transformation. It was there that he recognized that real estate both contributes significantly to the global climate crisis, and is uniquely situated to address it head-on. So, he got to work effecting change with Tower, where he manages the company’s energy, water, and waste management programs, green building certifications, greenhouse gas inventory, health and wellness strategy, and leads its efforts to educate all staff and tenants on sustainability. During his tenure, he has helped the company save over $9 million in utility costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 10%.
Jonathan received his B.S. in Biology from Central Connecticut State University, and is a LEED AP O+M, as well as a Fitwel Ambassador. When he is not pursuing Tower’s next sustainability innovation, he is outside, running, hiking or kayaking, with his growing family.
