Spending Package Funding Key Real Estate Programs Signed Into Law
On Tuesday, December 15 the House of Representatives passed legislation funding the federal government for fiscal year 2020.
The spending package provides funding for several key programs including:
- Terrorism Risk Insurance (TRIA – TRIA was set to expire in 2020, but has been reauthorized for 7 years
- National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) – NFIP was extended through September, 2020. While not the long-term reauthorization we have been pushing for, it gives us time to work on much needed reforms.
- Tax Extenders – After expiring in 2017, the 179D tax deduction for energy efficient improvements to commercial buildings has been retroactively extended through 2020.
