CHICAGO (December 5, 2022) – The IREM® Foundation is guided by the belief that well-managed real estate leads to thriving communities. These core values and the Foundation’s mission were launched in 1977, when the Foundation was established, and Joseph (Joe) T. Aveni, CPM®, was IREM® president. He envisioned an organization that would support IREM members, future real estate managers, building owners and investors.
To help ensure his vision was realized, in 1999 he donated $100,000 to establish a fund that would support real estate management research. With the earnings from this fund, the IREM Foundation has launched the J.T. Aveni Center for Research.
“Joe Aveni had the foresight to recognize that education and research contribute significantly to the overall growth and professionalism of the real estate industry,” says Karen Pharr, CPM® and IREM Foundation President. “Through the J.T. Aveni Center for Research, the IREM Foundation is able to significantly enhance the resources available to real estate managers and provide valuable knowledge through impactful research to meet the evolving challenges they face each day.”
Beginning in 2023, the Center will fund up to two $10,000 grants for real estate management-related research. The goal is to fund research projects to help real estate managers make data-driven decisions that improve asset quality for building owners, investors, the community, and occupants.
“I believe research will drive the future of real estate management,” says Mr. Aveni. “Professional property management enhances the value of real estate. And as technology continues to advance, research will provide the information to educate IREM members and advance our professionals.”
