CHICAGO (January 5, 2022) – IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) welcomes its 2022 President Barry Blanton, CPM®, succeeding Chip Watts, CPM®, CCIM, C2EX, AHWD®. The organization has also made changes to the leadership structure, shifting from an Executive Committee and introducing an elected Board of Directors.
“As the leading institution for real estate management education and certification, IREM has re-structured our leadership strategy to best serve our members and chapter network,” says Barry. “Our Board of Directors and executive leadership provide the representation and direction to drive IREM into the future and fulfill our mission of advancing the real estate management profession.”
In addition to his position with IREM, Barry is Chief Problem Solver and a founding principal of Blanton Turner, an AMO® real estate and consulting firm based in Seattle, WA. Barry’s been in the real estate management business since 1980 and has become one of the most influential industry professionals in the Pacific Northwest. His company was named Management Company of the Year by Multifamily Housing News in 2014 and received an IREM REME (Real Estate Management Excellence) award in 2016 as “AMO of the Year.”
Serving alongside Blanton is 2022 President-Elect Renee Savage, CPM®, CCIM, President of Casavida, AMO®, in San Diego, California, and 2022 Secretary/Treasurer Libby Ekre, CPM®, founding principal of MEB Management Services, AMO®, in Phoenix, Arizona. The leadership team is rounded out by Dawn Carpenter, CPM®, 2022 IREM Secretary/Treasurer Nominee, and Broker-owner, Dawning Real Estate, AMO®, in Staten Island, New York and Chip Watts, CPM®, IREM Immediate Past President, and President of Watts Realty, Co., Inc., AMO®, in Birmingham, Alabama.
