Shelby Carey, CPM®, is the 2023-2023 regional vice president for IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) Region 5, encompassing chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. She joined Hathaway Group in May 2016 and is the Director of Property Management.
Before joining Hathaway Group, Carey spent 10 years in the steel building industry. This experience was followed by 5 years in property management where she managed all aspects of commercial property, from NNN industrial to full-service office.
Carey has been affiliated with IREM since 2010, having served as the Arkansas chapter president in 2016-2017, 2020, and 2021.She received her CPM (Certified Property Manager) designation in March of 2016. Carey was recognized as Arkansas’ “CPM Candidate of the Year” in 2012, 2013, and 2014, and “CPM of the Year” in 2017.
On an international level, she’s served on the Education Committee, Diversity Committee, and multiple years on both the Ethics Committee, and the Ethics Appeal Board.
