Diversity & Inclusion Succession Initiative (DISI)

DISI Leaders

DISI is a career development program designed to support those pursuing their CPM® certification. The program is open to IREM members and employees of AMO firms, with a focus on members of marginalized identities or backgrounds, U.S. residents only.

Established in 2009 as Diversity Scholars, the program was renamed DISI (Diversity & Inclusion Succession Initiative) in 2019. Thanks to a generous grant from the IREM Foundation, 10 DISI Leaders are selected each year.

DISI Mentors

A meaningful resource and large benefit of the DISI program is professional mentorship for the DISI Leaders. Through professional mentorship, DISI Leaders have a personal guide and resource to help them as they navigate their career goals and obtain the CPM certification.

Who's eligible to be a DISI Mentor?

Any IREM member in good standing can be a DISI Mentor, with applications prioritized from members who:

  • Have CPM certification
  • Have at least five years of professional experience
  • Currently serve on an IREM standing committee or advisory council

Even if you don’t meet all the criteria but are interested in being a DISI Mentor, we encourage you to apply!

Expectations and responsibilities of being a DISI Mentor

  • Plan to meet with your DISI Leader at least four times throughout the year, including once at an IREM education event
  • Invite your DISI Leader to at least one meeting of the IREM standing committee or advisory council on which you serve – if the meetings are open and attendance is allowed
  • Be willing to share honestly and vulnerably about how to thrive and succeed
  • Participate in a virtual DISI Mentor orientation
  • Participate in two virtual DISI Mentor community calls

January ‘25

  • January 14: Virtual Orientation (Zoom)
    11am - 1pm
  • Paired with DISI Leader

April ‘25

  • April 23-24: PropertyCon in Boston, MA

June ‘25

  • DISI Mentor community call

October ‘25

  • DISI Mentor community call

December ‘25

  • 2025 DISI program officially ends
