Mary Scherer, CPM, is the 2017-2018 Regional Vice President for the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) for Region 2, encompassing chapters in Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Scherer is the Director of Residential Management for Union Real Estate in Pittsburgh, PA. Her responsibilities include the oversight of 22 properties, ensuring their adherence to the company’s operating policies, their capital improvement projects, and the monthly performance reviews.
Scherer joined IREM in 1998 and earned her CPM designation in 1999. She has been a very active member of IREM's Western Pennsylvania Chapter 7 and has served in many roles. After serving as program chair, she moved up the chairs from Secretary/Treasurer, to Vice President, and served two terms as President from 2005 to 2006. She continues to serve as the Vice President of Legislation, a role she has filled since 2007. She was awarded the CPM of the Year award by her chapter in 2006.
On the national level she has served as a member of IREM's Governing Council, and has been a member of the Legislative and Public Policy committee since 2007. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Gannon University in 1982, and a Pennsylvania Real Estate Salesperson’s license in 1989.
Scherer is a member of IREM Western Pennsylvania Chapter 7.
